Everyone uses the same cue words, the same release words, and the same calm tone. Keep it simple and consistent.

How to Give a Command

1. Say the cue once.
2. Give Max a moment to respond.
3. Reward quickly when he gets it right.
4. End held behaviors with Free or Break.

House Rules

• Do not repeat cues.
• Never punish Max for coming.
• Use Psssst for attention, not recall.
• If he struggles, make the task easier.

Important Distinctions

• Down is not Off.
• Wait is not Stay.
• Place is not Load Up.
• Leave It is not Drop.
• Psssst is attention, not recall.

If Max Does Not Respond

1. Pause. Do not repeat the cue.
2. Make the environment easier.
3. Help him succeed with a smaller step.
4. Reward the next correct response.
